FWG 3:1 pitch hole pattern is most commonly used for binding smaller sized documents. Typical spacing for 11inch sheet will be 33 holes on the binding side; the punch holes for this are square shaped. 3:1 pitch wire is most commonly found in sizes ranging from 6 mm (1/4in) up to 16 mm (5/8 in).

2:1 pitch (2 holes per inch) Wire-O

FWG 2:1 pitch hole pattern is most commonly used for binding larger sized documents. Typical spacing for 11inch sheet will be 22 holes on the binding side; the punch holes for this are square shaped. 2:1 pitch wire is most commonly found in sizes ranging from 16 mm (5⁄8 in) up to 32 mm (1 1⁄4 in).

Spiral binding hole patterns
FWG hole pattern used for Spiral binding is a 4:1 pitch hole pattern. This simply means that there are four holes per inch on the edge of the document; the punch holes for this are round in shape. Typical spacing for 11inch sheet will be 43 holes on the binding side. Standard Spiral sizes are between 6 mm (1/4”) up to 50 mm (2”inch) diameter.
